How Do the EbearZ online classes work?

The EbearZ U allows students all over the world to take affordable classes, with high quality content and expert instructors right from the comfort of home.

Our team of teachers, web and multi media specialists and programmers have put together workshops that are so much more than just a pattern and a set of instructions!

To take a course, simply click on the Register button either at the top or side of any page. Set up your account and check the course or courses that you would like to take.

On the day that the class starts, you can access your class by login in using the username and password that you selected when you set up your account.  A live link will show for any class that is in session. Simply click the link to access the online course instruction.  Each course has written step by step instructions, and original, beautiful patterns, many photos, and sometimes video or flash content.  You will have access to this content for the duration of the class. At midnight on the last day course access will be closed and this class will move into the 'previous classes' list on your student login page.

During the time that the class is open, you can access the material 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to work on your project.  Post your questions and progress in our Agora.

These workshops are the next best thing to being there ...AND... you can come any time; when it's convenient for you to work on your project!

What is the Agora?

The Agora completes the online class experience with interactive features such as the Forum, Library and Student Photo Gallery.

Our Agora can be reached by all students any time after the first day of their first class. There is no expiry date for the Agora. You can continue to post photos, access articles, forums and your student desk even if you do not have a class in session.  The Forum  is a message board at the Agora for posting questions to the instructor, and for talking with your fellow classmates.

What are the EZ Print Instructions?

All of our workshops come with a set of EZ print instructions. These instructions are included for lightweight printing convenience and are meant as a 'Future Reference' tool, to refresh your memory after you have completed the online course. They do not include all the photos. They do not include the links or the videos and they may not include diagrams. Some students are printing out the EZ print, thinking that this is all there is to the workshop. The bulk of the workshop ... photos, instructions, pdfs. flash and video are in the online portion of the workshop. (Contents vary by workshop.)   For the best experience, please use the online instructional portion of the workshop to access your materials while you have access, along with the Agora.  Print up the EZ print at the end of class as your future reference tool.

Current course offerings can be found in our 'Faculty' Pages. Teddy bear making courses can be found in the Faculty of Bears, while other critters or dolls may be found in the Faculty of Stuffies and Dolls respectively.  You'll find all of these Faculties on our Home page. Enter the Faculty to see the current listings and click on More Info to find out the specifics about any given workshop. 'More Info' pages will tell you about the course, its length, start date and level of difficulty. Some 'More Info' pages also include a supply list. Some classes have the supply list within the course.

Are there Different Levels of Difficulty in the Courses?

You'll find the difficulty described for many of the classes on the 'More Info' page. If there is no mention of the difficulty, it is a class that is suitable for all skill levels.

What about supplies?

By clicking on 'Supplies' in the Navigation at the left of any, you can order almost EVERYTHING you will ever need to make AWESOME projects! Our Supplies page is regularly updated to include new online vendors. Many of the 'More Info' pages for each course provides a supply list for your project.  Please note that some classes have the supply list included inside the course and the list will not be made available prior to class. The EbearZ U does not supply kits for any of its classes.

We accept most major credit cards through Paypal online payments.  International money orders are also welcome. (We DO NOT accept Green US postal money orders.) You can also pay using VISA of Master Card by calling 1 218 353 1300. No other credit cards are accepted by phone. Please leave your name, and credit card info, expiry date and the class you are paying for on our secure voice mail system, if we are not available to take your call.  Due to time constraints, and in order to keep costs down, we do not make return calls to collect this information.   Sorry we no longer accept personal cheques.

Paypal doesn't automatically appear for me to pay ... what do I do?

The EbearZ U does not use an automated shopping cart and is not connected to Paypal. All of our payments and registrations are examined and matched up manually. (A little old fashioned, but we like the hands on experience!)   Once you have registered for you class, you will be sent an email with the details of the class.   Next, go to your Paypal account, log in and use the Send Money feature to send payment to bears@kranbearys.com.  Be sure to note what class(s) you are paying for in the message box!  Failure to do so can result in delayed access to your class!  If you are paying by VISA, MC or money order, see the above instructions on how to pay.

I don't have a password how do I log in?

Our new system allows you to choose your own password when you register. Returning students can log in using their previous details. Forgot them? No problem, just click the link and we'll email them to you.  This password will be used for ALL of your workshops.   Your login information will not work until the first day of a class session, and  access will no longer be available following the final day of a session. Please pay special attention to the session dates.   For AGORA accounts, the username is the same as your student login.  Your password is sent to you in your welcome letter. You can change your password in the AGORA if you like once you have logged in.

Do I need to create a new account each time I register?

You do not need to create a new account each time you register. Just log in first, then click the courses that you want to register for and click OK.  We'll keep track of all your past, present and current classes for you, right on your Student Login page!

I'm new to the computer! Do I need a lot of computer experience?

Absolutely NOT! We have designed our workshops to be point and click. It's that easy. We're available to help you in any way that we can. If you need help with registration, please call us at

Can I print out the workshops  or save it?

Yes! Feel free to print out the information for future reference, or download the information directly to your computer. Copyright laws apply to our patterns, photos and all instructional content, so be sure to visit our Copyright Page  before you print!  You may not reproduce, distribute, change or teach our classes or information in any way shape or form without written permission. We actively protect our copyrights.

• Dress code- There isn't any. You can get dressed for school, or come in your jammies!
• Class Schedule There isn't any! Feel free to work as fast or as slow as you like. BUT... BEWARE... on midnight on the start of the last day listed for the course, the doors to the classroom will be locked!
• Chat & Live Class Schedule- Chat times and conferencing for select classes will be emailed directly to the students. (New Feature .... coming soon!)
• Rules of Conduct- Vulgarity, the use of profane language, sending of spam or abuse of classmates or the administration will not be tolerated, and will be deemed grounds for suspension from our school without refund. Remember when using the message board that YOU are responsible for your words.  We at EbearZ work very hard to bring you the very best classes at affordable prices.  It takes an enormous amount of time to produce these classes.  All of the pertinent information is listed on the website.  If  you have a question that is not listed, please feel free to ask.  If you do not receive a response, it is likely because the answer to your question is already listed on our site.   Hostile emails or correspondence of any sort will not be tolerated and are dealt with by immediate refund prior to the class start date, or suspension and IP blocking after the class date, without refund.   Copyright infringement will result in a permanent ban from all classes and possible legal action.
• Know the number for technical help regarding your computer. That way, any techie troubles you experience can be fixed ASAP and you'll be able to continue with the workshop.
• Know how to operate your sewing machine, or other relevant equipment before you being the class. Equipment (old or brand new) that just won't work for you can be very frustrating!
• Keep a positive attitude...and don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds will only be granted prior to the start date of a class with written notice. Once a session has begun, we do not offer refunds. If you are unable to attend your session, due to an emergency, or for medical reasons, please contact us. We'll be happy to put you in the next session so that you can take part in the workshop!
