Classes Delivered As Chapters!
Welcome...to old and new students. The Perfect Nose workshop is a one chapter class, designed to teach you how to create a beautiful embroidered nose. While doing this, the workshop gives the student an orientation to the EbearZ University.
There are two types of courses within the University. The workshops are either in slide show, or scrolling text formats. The slide show classes consist of about 135 slides. Each slide has a different instruction for making the project,
click-able pictures, TIPS, Trivia, and video downloads. These classes also include FLASH exercises, quizzes and fun surprises. For the most part, the Slide show Class is Self directed, with continuous intake.
The second type of class is the scrolling text workshop. These workshops are written in conversational style English. They are divided into Chapters, with each chapter focusing on a different aspect of the project. The text is plugged full of color pictures to illustrate the step by step instructions. Full size patterns and diagrams are also included in
.pdf format for easy printing. These workshops also include 'EZ print' instructions. These printable pages do not have photos and save the student in printer ink costs. Photos can be left clicked and saved to your computer for future reference.
In addition to these things, each class comes with a fantastic recipe; because, every really good teddy bear workshop should include a snack. Since we can't provide it for you, the least we can do is give you the recipe for something yummy.
Finally, workshop students a ll have access to the private, University Forum. This is a secure messaging system that allows the students to communicate with each other and ask questions of their instructor. Answers to questions are generally posted within 24 hours.
When you're finished your project, photos can be uploaded to the Student Photo Gallery, directly from your computer. Students who complete a workshop and load a photo are logged as having completed a course and credit is issued towards the BA or MBA (Bear Artist and Master Bear Artist) diplomas. Please note: These diplomas are not accredited and cannot be used in conjunction with any other College or University degree programs.
House Keeping
Let's begin with some house-keeping issues and an overview of this course.
Your Instructor
First, I'd like to introduce myself. I am your teacher in this course, Nancy
Tillberg. I'm also the designer of the The Perfect Nose Workshop.
I have been a teddy bear artist for ten years, and opened the EbearZ University in 2001 as a division of my teddy bear business,
'Kran-Beary's.' The Perfect Nose is the seventh class to be added to the University. I've also written two books on teddy bear making. They are: 'Teddy Bears with a Past' and '101 Bears to Make.' Book one focuses on working with old fur garments and transforming them into bear-looms.
Book two is more of an 'idea' book that focuses on creativity when working with three basic, yet very different patterns. You can learn more about my books by visiting the Dean's Web site Link on the left side of this page. Having created the University, I get to call myself the Dean.
Printing
If you want to print out your workshop, be prepared to buy a new color ink cartridge. There are about 15 pages, and the photos and backgrounds will take a lot of ink. The workshop will also print off the right side of the page, and you'll have to add the words that are cut off by hand. A better way to go is to print the E-Z print instructions on the side. These are bare bones instructions. No pictures, no background. Just the facts. If you want to keep photos as well, simply right click on the photo and choose 'save as.' Then you can name the photo and press save. It will be saved to the 'My Photos' file on your computer unless you have changed the default. (which most people don't...so don't worry about it.) All is well as long as you know where to find your photos later.
If at any time you have any trouble in the workshop, you can go to the forum and post a question. I try to answer all of the questions within
a 24 hour time frame. Alternatively, I can be reached at bears135@shaw.ca
