Noah's Ark: Elephants Next Class Begins March 13, 2012

 

Join us for a full year of fun with our Noah's Ark series of creations.  Every month we'll feature a new animal or character set. All animals are available in 2 sizes, so you can make either the larger or smaller version.  Cheryl Moss will be your instructor.

Elephants are truly amazing creatures. They are intelligent, affectionate and their family is everything to them. I have seen herds of over 40 at the waterhole together and I have never tired of watching them. This is the largest animal of the Noah's Ark Series.

The elephant stands  5indches tall and is about 6 inches long. The supply list is based on the size as designed. The pattern may be enlarged but this will mean that the supplies will also have to increase accordingly.
 
Supply List for a single elephant:
  • Grey mini velvet (I used Sassy Smokey Long Pile) 14” x 12’
  • 1 piece 7.5" X 4" darker grey or black Ultrasuede
  • 1 piece 3" X 2" square white Ultrasuede
  • Matching long pile fabric for the hair, tail and eyelashes: 2” x 2”
  • 1 pair 25mm joint discs for head
  • 1 T-shaped or rounded cotter pin
  • 2 pairs of 8mm glass eyes on loops
  • Bearmaker's floss or strong thread
  • Polyfil fibre for stuffing
  • A pipe cleaner for the tail

The tools required for this course are:

  • Small sharp scissors
  • A good pair of haemostats
  • Small long nose pliers
  • Gel pen or pencil for tracing the pattern
  • A fabric marker for the spots on the muzzle (I use Copic markers)
  • Fray check (optional)
  • Tacky glue
  • A basic sewing kit including needles of different lengths and threads
