Noah's Ark: Lion Next Class Begins March 13, 2012

Join us for a full year of fun with our Noah's Ark series of creations.  Every month we'll feature a new animal or character set. The Ark itself will be featured during the summer or 2011.  All animals are available in 2 sizes, so you can make either the larger or smaller version.  Cheryl Moss will be your instructor.

The lion stands at 4" high and 5" long. The supply list is based on the size as designed. The pattern may be enlarged but this will mean that the supplies will also have to increase accordingly.

Techniques:

  • 2 tone muzzle
  • Inset nose and ears
  • Eyelids
  • Wired tail
  • Pulled toes
  • Thread jointed limbs
  • A selection of leg shapes to choose from

Supply List for the pair:

  • 2 squares Miniature velvet (9" x 9") are more than adequate for the pair. I used Sassy Long Pile Tan fabric.
  • A small square of white Miniature velvet for the muzzle (4" x 4")
  • Black Ultra suede for the nose (2" x 2")
  • Tan Ultra suede for the foot pads (4" x 4")
  • Scrap long pile matching fabric for the mane  and tail (4" x 4")
  • 1 pair black 6mm eyes on loops for the male and 1 pair black 5mm eyes for the female
  • 4 x 1/2" (13mm) joint discs for the head and 2 cotter pins
  • A pipe cleaner for the tail
  • Invisible or matching thread for the body
  • Black thread for the mouth
  • Brown strong thread for the pulled toes
  • Bear makers floss or strong thread for the eyes, thread jointing and sculpting
  • Polyfil fibre for stuffing

The tools required for this course are:

  • Small sharp scissors
  • A good pair of hemostats
  • Small long nose pliers
  • Gel pen or pencil for tracing the pattern
  • A fabric marker for the spots on the muzzle (I use Copic markers)
  • Fray check (optional)
