Needle & Wet Felted Ornaments!  Registration Now Closed.

In this class you will learn how to make a set of three needle and wet felted snowballs. You'll then string them together and bead them to make variations of an icicle or a snowman. Too Cute!

There's plenty of time to make a whole tree full of ornaments! They also make great gift toppers and holiday zipper pulls!

Supplies:

1. Flat foam that is about 12" x 12" x 2". JoAnn Fabric and Michaels sells foam like this -Picture- Intro-01.jpg
2. Several #40 Triangular Felting needles. You will be using one, but it's good to have extras in case one breaks. If you don't have #40 Triangular you can use a 38 Triangular or a 38 Star. You can use any needle that can easily go through your fleece.
3. 2 Large plastic or glass bowls - One for your soapy water and one for your vinegar and water.
4. Liquid Ivory soap or any soap without perfumes and dyes
5. Distilled White Vinegar - Just a small amount to mix with water
6. Fleece - I used a merino mix in batt form. Use any kind of fleece that you feel will wet felt easily. I made these with white fleece.
7. You will also need some colored fleece if you want to dress your felted creation. This is added after your wet felted balls are completed. It is needled into your piece dry.
I used Romney fleece in batt form for this.
8. Towel to put on the table
9. Small bamboo mat or bubble wrap or anything that has a rough surface if you want to roll you wet ball on it.
10. I like to wear thin rubber gloves when I wet felt but that's totally up to you.
11. To string your balls together you can use any kind of beading thread. I used Fire Line
12. My favorite needle a #7 Long Darner by John James but you can use any thin needle that you can get your beading thread through.
13. Needle threader - optional
14. A thin doll needle would make it easier to string your beads if you want to bead.
15. An old scissor or wire cutter to trim your wire.
